Hardwoods

Hardwoods are widely considered to be one of the most attractive decking options possessing rich warm timber hues. Although initially a more expensive option they are highly durable, strong and naturally resilient to insect damage, mould and rot, making them a long term economical choice.

Oak (Quercus)

Oak is known to be one of the most durable and strongest of European hardwoods, your decking will require no treatment once laid, however most customers choose to apply a coat of decking oil to prolong the initial colour and the character of the oak. If not treated, it will become a beautiful silver/grey colour once weathered. Oak can be used in rural, rustic locations to connect outside to the inside yet has equal utility in high end contemporary installations.

Balau (Shorea)

Yellow Balau is perhaps one of the most popular options for hardwood decking available and sold in the UK - An incredibly durable, hard and heavy timber that resembles teak in terms of its colour and interlocking grain. Balau is golden yellow and slightly reddish-brown in colour, which will naturally fade to a silver/grey colour due to the bleaching effect of the sun. You can treat this type of hardwood decking which will help retain the initial colour whilst ensuring long life and durability.

Iroko (Milicia)

Iroko is a hardwood species native to tropical regions of West Africa. Iroko (Milicia excelsa) is known for its durability, resistance to decay, and beautiful appearance, making it a popular choice for outdoor decking projects.

With our commitment to sustainability, you can enjoy the natural beauty of bamboo while minimising your ecological footprint, as bamboo is a rapidly renewable resourse.
